Patriarch Theodoros II arrives in Madagascar for pastoral tour

Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria has begun a six-day pastoral visit to Madagascar, combining ordinations, consecrations, and community gatherings in advance of the Patriarchate’s upcoming Holy Synod.

ANTANANARIVO, Madagascar | Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria arrived Wednesday in Madagascar’s capital, beginning a pastoral tour ahead of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.

He was welcomed at Ivato International Airport by Metropolitan Ignatios of Antananarivo, the country’s Interior Minister on behalf of the President, an Egyptian state representative, and the Greek Consul.

This is the Patriarch’s fourth visit to Madagascar, where the Orthodox Church plays a key role in spiritual, charitable, and educational life.

He will spend six days in the Diocese of Toliara and Southern Madagascar, conducting visits, ordinations, and consecrations.
