PERTH, Australia | The Holy Diocese of Perth marked the National Anniversary of 28 October 1940 with a solemn Doxology Service at the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen in Northbridge on Thursday, 23 October 2025.
The ceremony was led by His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Perth, and attended by distinguished Greek officials, including the Honourable Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Mr Ioannis Loverdos. He was joined by His Excellency Mr Stavros Venizelos, Ambassador of Greece to Australia and New Zealand, and Mrs Eleni Georgopoulou, the Honourable Consul of Greece in Perth.

Following the Doxology, participants proceeded to the State War Memorial Cenotaph in Kings Park for a wreath-laying ceremony, presided over by His Excellency the Honourable Governor of Western Australia, Mr Christopher Dawson.
Mr Loverdos’ visit to Perth is part of his official 2025 tour of Australia, engaging with Greek communities nationwide. The tour aims to strengthen cultural and diplomatic relations between Greece and Australia, while exploring avenues for expanded bilateral cooperation.
